Hurt

But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

If you only love those who love you, what accomplishment is that? Even the worst of criminals love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what accomplishment is that? Even criminals do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what accomplishment is that? Even the criminals lend to others, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great.

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Excerpts from Luke 6

There is no accomplishment in loving only those who love us. Why? Because it’s easy. The right things are always the hardest to do.

Oh the times, they are not quite a-changin’ just yet.

This was right after we talked about growing up, our futures, and our careers. We’re both turning 24 this year, by the way.

Fashown!

My sister Ruby recently finished her fashion design studies at the College of St. Benilde and she is now taking custom orders for dresses, gowns, costumes, etc. She’s done stuff for weddings and Halloween and she’s also been part of an exhibit in Singapore already. If you’re interested, you can email her at: rubyredulla@gmail.com

For now, here’s a look at some of the stuff she’s done.

Rubber band dress made for a Project Runway challenge for school

Canvas and tulle belted hoodie dress with fishnet detail

Taffeta Harley Quinn-inspired origami minidress made for a runway show

Blue plaid jacket with raised asymmetrical collar and buckle and bead details, gray cotton striped top, distressed metallic denim skirt splattered with black and red paint, stretch leatherette tights, all made for a runway show

Grad show collection: Cocktail dress, top and pants, asymmetrical serpentine evening gown, all in suede and printed jersey

Of Dogs and Children

My sister’s reasons on why having a dog is better than having kids:

  1. Dogs don’t talk back.
  2. Dogs don’t take drugs.
  3. Dogs will stay with you and will be loyal to you until the day they die.
  4. Dogs don’t have to go to school.
  5. Dog food is cheaper.
  6. Dogs don’t need clothes.
  7. You can keep your dog on a leash.
  8. A dog can protect you, whereas a child cannot.
  9. You don’t have to worry about who your dog is dating.
  10. And the best reason of all…. if your dog gets pregnant, you can sell the babies.

Pasensya Na

RARRR!!!

My favorite college professor, Sev Sarmenta, once discussed in class how much he hates the saying pasensya na. I never used that term, but even at that time, I didn’t really see what he was so fussy about.

After hitting the real world, Sir Sev, I finally see what you were talking about. I HATE that saying now. Do you know why?

Pasensya na actually translates to this:
I’m causing you a great deal of inconvenience, but since I don’t want you to blame me, I’ll just make you feel guilty for getting upset.

Think about it. That’s exactly what it is.

What I really hate about it is that it shows so much on people’s lack of accountability. Seriously, I’d appreciate it so much more if people would just say “sorry”. What’s so hard about that? Pasensya na lets the people who screw up off the hook and get away with it. Not only that, it makes the offended party look like a bad person for being upset. Where’s the justice??

No offense to anyone who says pasensya na a lot, but really, JUST SAY SORRY. It’s much more meaningful.
